Fermentation for Beginners – One Day Workshop in Edinburgh
Curious about making your own sauerkraut, kimchi, kefir, or pickles but not sure where to start? Join us for a hands-on one-day fermentation workshop in Edinburgh, designed especially for complete beginners. You’ll learn the fundamentals of safely fermenting vegetables and beverages at home, building confidence step by step.
Throughout the day, you’ll explore:
-
The science and art of fermentation
-
How to begin with simple, affordable ingredients
-
Practical techniques you can confidently repeat in your own kitchen
-
Tips for flavouring, storing, and troubleshooting your ferments
Recipes include kimchi, kefir, preserved lemons, and homemade apple cider vinegar made from scraps. All jars, ingredients, and equipment are provided. Everything you make will continue fermenting at home, but you’ll also taste pre-prepared samples during the class to see the finished results.
By the end of the workshop, you’ll leave with a variety of ferments to nurture, recipe cards to keep experimenting, and the knowledge to make probiotic and prebiotic-rich foods part of your everyday life.
Come with curiosity—leave with bubbling jars, new skills, and a passion for fermentation!
