Ready to take the mystery out of cooking? This practical, confidence-building course is designed for absolute beginners and will guide you through the essential skills every home cook should know. Across the six sessions, you’ll cook a variety of dishes while learning the techniques to recreate them at home. By the end, you’ll leave with new skills, delicious recipes, and the confidence to cook for family and friends.
Some of the dishes included:

Week 1 – Knife Skills: Master chopping, slicing, and dicing while cooking a quick and tasty chicken stir fry and impress your diners with crepe suzettes.

Week 2 – Pastry: Discover the secrets of crisp, buttery pastry with a classic Quiche Lorraine and indulgent chocolate profiteroles.

Week 3 – Fish: Get to grips with fresh seafood while making a fragrant prawn laksa and filleting a whole fish.

Week 4 – Meat: Learn how to pan-fry the perfect steak and joint a whole chicken.

Week 5 – Baking: Create sweet treats like a light and indulgent chocolate roulade and a classic Victoria Sandwich cake.

Week 6 – Dinner Party: Put it all together with a showstopping three-course menu — smoked salmon pâté, duck breast with blackberry sauce, and melt-in-the-middle chocolate fondants.
Dietary Requirements and Allergies:
- Please let us know of any dietary requirements, allergies or special accommodations required at the time of booking. We will be as flexible as possible, when we can, so as to be inclusive to all students but we may not be able to substitute ingredients in the recipes.
- We do everything we can to reduce the risk of cross contamination, however we cannot guarantee a completely allergen free environment and therefore our kitchens may be unsuitable for students with severe or life-threatening allergies.
Age limit: Our one-day workshops and short courses are 16+ unless otherwise specified. Children aged 14 or 15 may attend with an adult over 18.
