If you’re anything like me, you enjoy throwing dinner parties for your friends and family. It’s a great way to spend time together in relaxed surroundings. However, I’m sure most hosts will agree that with the joy of entertaining comes a certain element of pressure. Of course your loved ones wouldn’t dare criticise or complain, but you always want to make sure everything is just right.
It’s extremely easy to spend the entire day preparing for a dinner party. You can run laps of the shops making sure you have the right selection of alcohol to cater to everyone’s tastes. You can fall into a cleaning frenzy, trying desperately to reclaim your home from the chaos of the working week. But by far the easiest trap to snare you is the stress of preparing all the food! It’s not like feeding your children, partner, or indeed yourself. You deal with them all the time. You have to display all the culinary acumen you can muster on a plate for a varying amount of people and it has to be palatable enough so that they can at least pretend to like it. And last, but not least, you want to make it look effortless and have the chance to spend more time at the table than in the kitchen!
Well do not worry because it does not need to be this hard. Entertaining can be a doddle with the right tools and a little bit of know how.
Our easy entertaining weekend courses are a great way to get the inside track from our expert instructors. They’ll show you loads of great tips, so the next time you play host you can really impress. You’ll spend the morning watching a short demonstration, then plan and cook your three course menu, finishing the day around the table with a glass of wine and your freshly prepared creations.
We have a special Easy Entertaining course running on Saturday 27 September which would be particularly suitable for golf widows – so we can enjoy some stimulating food and conversation while the Ryder Cup is on.
