Edinburgh cook school trainer ready to teach at professional cook school

Susie Henderson – Teacher & Buyer

Always a keen baker, a student job in a kitchen persuaded Susie that she wanted to pursue a career in food. She decided to enrol at The Edinburgh New Town Cookery School where she gained her Diploma with Distinction.

Following graduation, Susie worked as a private chef on shooting weekends and at private events but always had a sweet spot for pastry. This took her to the Waldorf Astoria Caledonian Hotel where she worked in the pastry section under the Galvin brothers.

When she was a student at the School, Susie loved to help with our evening and weekend classes and so when the opportunity arose to join the team on a more permanent basis in 2015 she jumped at the chance. Her first love remains pastry but she teaches the full range of classes at the school.

Since 2017, Susie has been Lead Teacher for the Queen Margaret University International Tourism and Hospitality students who complete the practical cookery element of their degree with us. She is also our Buyer and is responsible for sourcing all the ingredients for our many courses and events.
