The Edinburgh Festival and Festival Fringe is almost upon us and the whole city is buzzing in anticipation of another year of the biggest arts festival in the world – plus all the fantastic things to see and do that come with it. However, as most Edinburgh residents will attest, after a couple of weeks it can get a little tiring navigating the never ending hustle and bustle.
So, if you want to escape the flyers and the street performers for a day, why not try something different and have a go at one of our one day cookery courses that are running throughout August? With the school based on Queen Street, we are far enough away from the melee of the festival, but still central enough so you don’t have to stray too far.
Set in a Georgian town house, our school is a real haven in summer. Our students get all the benefits of a state of the art, professional kitchen within in a beautiful, peaceful and authentic Edinburgh setting. It’s also a great way to learn something new and impress your friends and family when you get home and we have a range of courses to suit every taste and group.
If you’re looking to explore specific cuisines our Mediterranean and Vietnamese courses are perfect. Both regions are renowned for their fresh and healthy ingredients and on either day you’ll get a real taste of their dishes and learn how to inject your cooking with authentic flavours.
Or, for the sweet-toothed, another option would be our Patisserie day, when students learn how to make a range of lighter than air pastries, have a delicious lunch and then take away some of the treats to enjoy later.
We also offer a fun children’s day – an ideal way to keep the children amused while the grown-ups indulge in festival culture. The kids will learn basic cookery skills and how to make some simple dishes to take home, so you dinner will be taken care of. We even teach them to tidy as they go, every parent’s dream!
