Celebrate Mother’s Day with a delightful afternoon of baking at the Edinburgh New Town Cookery School (ENTCS). This special half-day class is designed for both residents and visitors who want to enjoy the charm of traditional Scottish baking while creating an elegant afternoon tea to share.
During the hands-on session, you’ll make a selection of classic treats, and learn hints and tips from our teachers along the way to ensure great results every time.
Scotland is famous for its baking heritage, and this experience brings those traditions to life. After three hours of baking, you’ll settle into our beautiful dining room, overlooking Queen Street Gardens, to relax and enjoy your homemade afternoon tea accompanied by a glass of fizz and freshly brewed tea or coffee.
Recipes include:
- Classic Victoria Sandwich
- Traditional Cheese Scones
- Scottish Shortbread
- Individual Chocolate Pavlovas
- Savoury Pea & Mint Blinis with Smoked Salmon
Whether you’re treating your mum, gathering friends and family for a memorable outing, or joining solo to meet fellow baking enthusiasts, this class offers a warm, welcoming experience.

- The recipes made on this course contain the following: GLUTEN, EGGS, DAIRY, FISH AND NOT SUITABLE FOR VEGANS*
- Please let us know of any dietary requirements, allergies or special accommodations required at the time of booking. We will be as flexible as possible, when we can, so as to be inclusive to all students but we may not be able to substitute ingredients in the recipes.
- We do everything we can to reduce the risk of cross contamination, however we cannot guarantee a completely allergen free environment and therefore our kitchens may be unsuitable for students with severe or life-threatening allergies.

Age limit: Our one-day workshops and short courses are 16+ unless otherwise specified. Children aged 14 or 15 may attend with an adult over 18.
Course times: On the day, please arrive 11.45am and the class will begin at 12pm. The class will be finished by 4pm, depending on the course and class size it may finish earlier.
